Potential economic impact of pesticide buffer zones
29/03/2005
This research assisted the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution to assess the likely cost of introducing pesticide free buffer strips in areas of potential bystander exposure.  The analysis was undertaken using gross margin data for a range of crops as well as examining the implications of the cross compliance rules on set-aside land applicable to recipients of the single farm payment.  The study also assessed the likely impact of a levy on pesticide usage equivalent to the costs for introducing buffer strips.
